Books

Jim Jerving has authored four books and co-authored three others. Subjects include financial management, motivation, youth credit unions and a children’s book on savings. Several of his books were translated into French, Spanish and Polish.

Changing Youth

For low-income people, credit unions are often an oasis of hope in a barren landscape. They provide a place to borrow with dignity from an institution owned and controlled by the community. Changing Youth: Starting a Youth Credit Union and Learning Center is an inspiring story of bringing financial services to young people and adults in Springfield, Massachusetts.

As parents and adults, we know the importance of encouraging regular saving and the wise use of credit at an early age. A Head Start to Success is a book for pre-school children and parents that teaches the value of regular saving. Jim Jerving wrote the children’s part and took the photographs for this book.

Financial Management

Many of us who work in the financial services industry struggle with the arcane language of finance. When Jim Jerving began working in financial services he searched for a book to help explain both the language and mechanics of finance, but such a book didn’t exist. He developed, wrote and created the marketing strategy for Financial Management for Managers and Directors, which was translated into French, Spanish, and Polish and published in five different versions.
